Rotation Scheduling Required:
When we do not have a ship in port Maintenance works 7am – 4pm. When a ship is in port, the Lead Mechanic will work 6:45am to 7pm as needed while a vessel is in port
Responsibilities
We are seeking a HIGHLY MOTIVATED self-starter who is versatile and can work efficiently and accurately in the field of heavy off-road machinery mechanics. If you can troubleshoot, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as heavy off-road equipment, diesel engines, forklifts and hydraulic systems then this is the right opportunity for you.
Your new responsibilities:
- Independently perform and record scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) services on diesel powered off-road equipment and lift trucks, including fluid and filter exchange, greasing, cleaning and inspection of safety critical items.
- Maintain adequate stock of parts and materials required for PM services.
- Under guidance of senior mechanics, perform intermediate level repairs such as brake jobs, hydraulic hose replacements, starter/alternator replacements, tune-ups, and radiator repairs or replacements.
- Assist senior mechanics with higher level repairs such as engine and transmission repairs and replacements, fuel system repairs, and hydraulic system repairs.
- Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs on equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Observe all OSHA and facility safety regulations, including use of personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
You have the right qualifications:
- High School Graduate or GED.
- At least three years of experience as a heavy equipment Maintenance Technician or a current Certificate in Diesel Engine Diagnostics and Repair may be accepted. Good working knowledge of Tier IV Final Diesel engines and DEF systems are a plus.
- Must possess your own basic tool set (socket set, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammer, etc.).
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend standard instructions, short correspondences and memos, including safety, instructional and procedural manuals.
- Must be able to comprehend basic wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
- A team player.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and eligibility to obtain a TWIC card through the Federal Transportation Security Administration.
