Responsibilities

 

What does your day look like as a Maintenance Planner?

 

The Maintenance Planner processes and plans work orders and creates work plans. They organize the work, ensuring the availability of human resources, equipment, materials, special tools, procedures, and instructions required to perform the tasks safely and efficiently.

  • Manage repairable and non-repairable parts inventory.
  • Establish work order planning priorities in the backlog based on safety, environmental, and operational risk management.
  • Keep the backlog list organized and up to date at all times.
  • Plan work orders.
  • Confirm the scope of the work to be planned and visit the work site.
  • Develop standard tasks and works.
  • Identify and coordinate the services and trades involved in the execution of the work order.
  • Validate if internal skills and expertise are available to perform the work.
  • Identify special tools and equipment required to execute the work safely and efficiently.
  • Identify preparation needs to ensure equipment availability for work execution.
  • Reserve and order parts and materials.

Qualifications

To succeed as a Maintenance Planner, you must have:

  • A DEC in mechanical engineering technology or a DEP in heavy vehicle mechanics or construction equipment mechanics, or any relevant training;
  • Three (3) years of experience in maintenance planning (factory or rolling equipment);
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel and Word);
  • Mastery of maintenance principles (preventive, corrective, predictive).
