Responsibilities

 

What your days look like as a Reliability engineer: 

 

  • Provide technical support to the procurement department for the acquisition of equipment and services, ensuring compliance with specifications and reliability standards;
  • Update and adapt technical specifications based on technological advancements and operational needs;
  • Assist the maintenance department by proposing technical solutions to recurring issues;
  • Update and optimize preventive maintenance plans to improve equipment availability;
  • Manage maintenance-related projects, coordinating interventions and ensuring deadlines and performance objectives are met;
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce operational costs;
  • Conduct failure analyses to determine root causes of breakdowns and recommend appropriate corrective actions;
  • Monitor predictive maintenance activities (oil analysis, thermography, vibration monitoring) and interpret results to anticipate potential failures;
  • Collaborate with the Reliability Director to identify equipment reaching the end of its lifecycle and propose replacement or modernization strategies;
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documentation for all equipment, including maintenance manuals, maintenance history, and technical specifications;
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability to guide corrective actions and optimize maintenance practices;

 

 


Qualifications

 

To succeed as a Reliability engineer you must have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering;
  • Membership with the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Strong knowledge of Visio, ERP, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System);
  • Expertise in reliability analysis methodologies and predictive maintenance tools;
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in industrial equipment;
  • Ability to interpret technical reports and provide actionable recommendations;
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose root causes of failures and propose innovative solutions;
  • Attention to detail in data tracking and ability to optimize maintenance processes;
  • Bilingual (French & English);
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting operational priorities.
